Scope,This standard specifies method of hardness test in weld heat-affected zone of,a steel by means of taper test specimen deposited on by arc welding and of obtaining,relationship between cooling time from 800 ℃ to 500 ℃ and maximum hardness,hereinafter referred to as the "taper hardness test".,2. Test Specimen,2.1 The shape and dimension of test specimen shall conform to Fig. 1 . When,original thickness (t) of test material exceeeds 30 mm, it shall be machined cut to,30 mm on one face, and when the thickness is under 30 mm and over 1 5 mm, it shall,be left in original thickness .,2.2 The side faces of the test specimen can be left as flamed cut.,3. Welding,3.1 Each two of arc strikes, short beads and long beads shall be deposited,respectively on the position as indicated in Fig. 1 . The long bead shall be deposited,to its required length by each one stick electrode without interruption, commencing,from the thin part of the test specimen to the thick part.,3.2 The order of depositing art stricke and beads shall be by ①,?,②,②,⑧,④,as indicated in Fig. 1 , letting the test specimen cool down in the air to the temperature,approximately below 40 ℃ before depositing the next bead.
